| The Bellsgrove Mine is one
of the most important of the Strontian mines, both for
its history of mining extraction as well as for its claim
to fame for specimen production. The mine has had a relatively long period of activity. The most recent mining activities at Strontian, has seen mineral extraction occur on its doorstep also, since it is very near the Clashgorm Section and the Whitesmith Mine and located in the central mining area at Strontian. Along with the Whitesmith Mine, it is probably the top producer of harmotome specimens, both from Strontian as well as for the rest of the world. It has also been noted as producing interesting examples of brewsterite. Nevertheless, most recent collecting activities at Strontian have left the mine relatively untouched as accessibility to newer sites is rather easier. |
